It was 9 years ago when I realized that yes, you guessed it, Music Saved Me.
For those who are close to me, they know that I love singing, playing music, and having that good ole' dance party in my room. But why are all these things so important to me?
I'll never forget the day my grandpa passed away. It was the first huge death in my life that I could actually remember. He was my everything, and when he was gone, I felt absolutely crushed. After his death, music was the only thing I could turn to that calmed my nerves. I had always loved singing, but around that time, I was dabbling into playing guitar. It was my stress reliever. I was obviously very stressed out that day, but aside from that...I'm a very stressful person.
Do you ever just have those days where nothing goes right, but then a certain song comes on and you just start moving to the beat and you have that instantaneous feeling of happiness?! Or how about when you're at a concert, and your band starts playing your favorite song, and they are absolutely just killing it. Talk about instant goosebumps. Even the songs that have that sad tune... but really just makes you think (and then your mind really starts to waunder). That's why I hate watching music videos, it totally ruins what I make the song out to be. But all of these things is what makes music so special to me.
It's that "feel good" moment in a song that makes you listen to it on repeat. Music is everywhere. Yeah, you've seen those people banging on trashcans but end up making a pretty sweet beat. Music saved me over and over again. It doesn't have an expiration date. And when words fail, music speaks. Music saved me, & it could save you too.
